The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia on Tuesday approved the appointment of Roger Tutterow as the Henssler Financial Endowed Chair at Kennesaw State University.

As the Henssler Financial Endowed Chair, Tutterow, an economics professor and the director of the Econometric Center in the Michael J. Coles College of Business, will conduct research, develop and teach courses, mentor students and faculty, and represent and promote the College to the community.

The $500,000 endowment was a gift from longtime College supporters Gene and Pat Henssler.

“We are so grateful to Henssler Financial for their generous gift in support of our faculty and programs,” said Kathy Schwaig, dean of the Coles College of Business. “Dr. Tutterow is one of the best-known economists in the Southeast. His insights on economic, financial and statistical issues are sought by corporate and government leaders as well as many professional and civic organizations. Roger is a great ambassador for the Coles College and KSU, and I am thrilled that his work is being recognized with the Henssler Financial Endowed Chair.”

Gene Henssler was a finance professor at Kennesaw State from 1986 to 1996, and he holds the title of Professor Emeritus of Finance at the University. He is the president of Henssler Financial, a financial planning and money management firm, and Pat Henssler is the principal in P.T. Henssler, C.P.A., LLC, a public accounting firm.

Gene and Pat Henssler have a long history of supporting Kennesaw State, including establishing the Student Management Investment Fund in the Coles College of Business to give students hands-on experience in portfolio management and investing. The Hensslers also have created two scholarships at KSU, supported the University’s study-abroad programs in Japan and Italy, and donated to the Department of Athletics.

“I am honored to hold the Henssler Financial Endowed Chair, as it recognizes a group that has been so supportive of Kennesaw State for many years,” Tutterow said. “Through hiring interns and permanent employees from KSU, Gene Henssler has allowed many of our students an entry into the world of investment management.”

In addition to his work in academia, Tutterow has served as a consultant on financial economics and statistical modeling for Fortune 500 companies and other corporate clients. He has provided expert testimony on economic, financial and statistical matters in state and federal court, before the Georgia General Assembly and before the Georgia Public Service Commission.
