Each spring, the National Collegiate Sales Competition and the Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition invite hundreds of students to campus to showcase their talents and to network with peers and corporate recruiters. With other major events across the country being cancelled or postponed during the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of the NCSC and the SECCDC are using technology to ensure the competitions continue safely and that students do not lose valuable experiential learning opportunities. – March 31, 2020
A group of Kennesaw State University students recently placed first in a marketing competition sponsored by Amazon, and may end up getting jobs with the e-commerce company as a result. Three members of the Kennesaw Marketing Association – Laura Stallings, Lenny Jimenez Cazon, and Amber Griffin – took the top spot in the Morehouse Marketing Conclave Amazon Case Study Competition in February. – March 25, 2020
Following the University System of Georgia’s announcement on Monday, March 16 that instruction will remain exclusively online at all USG institutions for the duration of the Spring 2020 semester, the Michael J. Coles College of Business is cancelling or postponing on-campus events. A select few events will still occur, but will be offered online. – March 24, 2020
Kennesaw State University is among the top universities in the world for accounting research, according to just-released rankings from Brigham Young University. The 2019 report, which ranks universities based on their research output in 12 top accounting journals, lists Kennesaw State as the 61st most-published university in the world during the last six years, and the second most-published in Georgia. – March 24, 2020
The Kennesaw State Coles College of Business held its first Coles College Showcase on Tuesday, March 10, to demonstrate what groups and departments were on campus to help students in college. The showcase took place in the Dr. Betty L. Siegel Student Recreation and Activities Center on the Kennesaw campus and featured 21 stations for students to gather information. – March 16, 2020
Since its launch ten years ago, the members of Kennesaw State University’s Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) have nearly tripled the fund’s value, won numerous awards and leveraged their experiences to open doors to jobs at major businesses in the financial industry. Housed within the Michael J. Coles College of Business, SMIF gives undergraduate students supervised control over a real six-figure investment portfolio. The students learn to conduct fundamental analysis on publicly traded equities and make investing decisions based on that research. Their conservative investing philosophy has seen the fund grow from $100,000 to $270,000. – March 10, 2020
