Requirements and Resources

To become a CMA, candidates must:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree or higher, or a professional certification in a related field,
  • Pass a two-part exam:
    • Financial Planning, Performance and Analytics
    • Strategic Financial Management
  • Attain two years of related work experience

Students can set for the CMA exam before completing their undergraduate degree. Scholarships are also available to cover the cost of the exam, exam prep, and entrance into the CMA organization. (See FAQ for more info)
