, established in May 2006, was created to provide real-time, hands on experience in portfolio management and investing for its top business majors.
KSU SMIF is run by the Student Executive Board consisting of student managers selected from amongst their peers through an initial application process and overseen by faculty advisor Professor Stefano Mazzotta, Ph.D. SMIF membership is open to all Undergraduate and Graduate students of Kennesaw State University who have met the requirements set out by the fund’s management and academic credit is available for participation.

The SMIF’s main investment focus is Strategic Asset Allocation primarily geared toward domestic equities. This is employed by researching industry sectors with the theoretical tools and fundamental concepts provided in the classroom, analytical research and those adopted from established fund members. SMIF makes use of Zacks.com for its screening parameters and conducts historical financial research with the aid of finance.yahoo.com.
The realization of the Kennesaw State University SMIF has been made possible through a generous donation from G.W. Henssler & Associates, Ltd. (GWH) of $100,000.00 and operates as a limited liability corporation, solely owned by the KSU Foundation, a non-profit organization.
