Jacob Wells is a Finance major from Kennesaw, Ga and the longest tenured member of the SMIF. Jacob has been with the fund for four years and served as a Senior Analyst when KSU’s SMIF won the 2015 GAME Forum as the best growth-style student investment fund in the world. In the past, Jacob has also served as Managing Director and Chief Economist of the SMIF before being appointed to Chief Executive Officer. Jacob is an Eagle Scout, an intern at Henssler Financial, and studied abroad to Spain’s #1 university for economics. Upon graduation, Jacob plans to seek a career in asset management or investment banking and complete his CFA before attending graduate school.
Andrew is a senior finance major with a minor in computer science. This is his fourth semester with SMIF, working with the firm as the Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager. He is a member of the Coles College Student Advisory Board to the Dean and Omicron Delta Epsilon, The International Honor Society for Economics. Andrew is interested in capital markets as well as applying computer science to quantitative analysis and statistical modeling. Andrew interned with MRI Software, Georgia Pacific, and Henssler Financial. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree he plans to gain further industry experience before attending graduate school.
Joshua Mbugua is a senior majoring in Finance from San Diego, California. Joshua has been with the SMIF for three semesters; he was previously a junior analyst and associate manager and is now Chief Operations Officer. He is President of KSU’s Enactus team, a member of the Coles College Student Advisory Board to the Dean, a member of Phi Kappa Phi and has interned with Illumina and Illinois Tool Works and is currently interning at McKenney’s in FP&A. Post graduation, he will be returning to Illumina to work as a financial analyst.
Eli Hogan is a finance major from Cartersville, Georgia. He is the chief economist of the Student Managed Investment Fund, after previous stints as a junior analyst, associate, and managing director, and chief executive officer. In addition to his work with the SMIF, he is a member of the Coles Scholars Program and Beta Gamma Sigma, has interned with J.P. Morgan and Henssler Financial’s research group, and was a member of KSU’s first ever CFA Challenge Team, winning the 2017 ASFIP Southern Classic and competing in Seattle for the national championship. Post graduation, he will be returning to J.P. Morgan as a private banking analyst.
