Marketing is all about connecting an organization with its audiences. Why do people buy and where? Why didn’t they respond to a promotion or a sales pitch? How does a business engage its many constituencies? If you have a curiosity regarding the answers to these questions or a talent for analysis, a keen eye for trends, or can communicate creatively, you need to major in Marketing.
The one constant in marketing is change. From media shifts to demographic fluctuations, the playing field of marketing is dynamic and influential. With a BBA in Marketing from Coles College of Business, you will be prepared to excel in the marketing profession. A marketing degree expands your options to diverse career possibilities in retailing, advertising, social media and/or marketing management. With choices from consumer to business-to-business, and from corporate to agency marketing, you can find yourself in almost any industry, from financial services to sports marketing. You’ll also have travel opportunities to gain international experience through marketing study abroad tours.
In addition to courses in consumer behavior, market research, and international marketing, you’ll also be able to enroll in classes that focus on social media, professional selling, and advertising. There are three potential career paths outlined in the course catalog or you can create your own. To read a full list of courses available to you, and their descriptions, browse the KSU Undergraduate Catalog.
The department has a plan for courses to be offered over a two-year span.
