Description of Services

The Urban Enterprise Initiative Is part of Kennesaw State University's Family Enterprise Center. The urban Enterprise Center creates an entrepreneurial culture in a community by organizing and teaching families how to establish and grow businesses. These families then build and reinforce values and traditions promoting business success in their own communities. The Urban Enterprise Initiative facilitates the development of communities of entrepreneurs by recognizing the importance and role of the family in business. Building supportive families through family 'involvement in business development is a keystone of our initiative. Building a community of entrepreneurs requires building entrepreneurial families.

2. Process

  • Creation of resource network
  • Monitor the participant-meetings, written plans, written reports Education of participant & family

 

3. Outcome & Evaluation

  • Capital secured for business
  • Market and customers secured for business
  • Operations established for business
  • Costs assessed closely to reduce waste
  • Business systems in place-accounting, marketing, production, delivery of goods & services and more

 

Once part of the Initiative, participants learn how to effectively manage their own businesses. The initiative seeks to pair participants with resources required for successful business management. The Initiative is already having a positive impact on communities in metropolitan Atlanta for short and long term growth and progress by teaching participants how to manage family businesses successfully. Another unique feature of the Initiative is the commitment of continuous association with participants for a number of years.
