KSU lecturer addresses concerns over potential data security issues at MARTA

KENNESAW, Ga. (Nov 14, 2017) — WSB-TV interviewed Coles College faculty member Andrew Green, a lecturer of information security and assurance, about potential information security problems inside Atlanta’s public transportation authority.

A confidential report that recently became public details a litany of potential information technology issues inside the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) including the lack of a disaster recovery plan and the lack of encryption around sensitive data like employee Social Security Numbers.

“I don’t want to say it’s reckless,” Green told WSB-TV Reporter Richard Belcher. “I will simply say I’m very disappointed to see this kind of behavior from an organization the size of MARTA.”
