What is the difference between a ‘MBA Career Management’ and ‘a placement office’?
'Placement’ is an outdated expression that was used years before there was a need to educate students in all of the areas it takes for them to be competitive in a global job market. ‘Career management’ is the modern term used by career centers to more accurately describe the depth and breathe of the center’s role in a business school. Although the ultimate objective is student employment, the MBACM provides career related skill sets students could apply throughout the span of their career. Mastering these skills generally leads to increased job opportunities and more importantly, job offers.
What type of services does the MBA Career Management offer?
What is Handshake?
Handshake is KSU’s web–based system for students seeking full-time, part-time, or internship positions. Employers, specifically those seeking KSU students and alumni, post various positions in Handshake. All MBA students are required to have an active Handshake account to utilize certain MBACM services.
What are the primary differences between Coles MBA Career Management and KSU’s Career Services Center (CSC)?
The Coles MBA Career Management (MBACM) provides services for MBA students and alumni only. The centralized Career Services Center (CSC) provides career services to all other KSU students and alumni. This includes undergraduate business students. Both offices’ primary mission is to help KSU’s entire student body plan and manage their career and we serve as the gateway for employers to recruit KSU’s outstanding talent.
