Functional teaming &
authentic leadership
At Coles, teaming is much
more than just a study group and leadership is
more than a course and a few assessments. We
provide you with the academic foundations and
tools to manage and understand yourself and
others. Students are given the opportunity to
explore how each team member functions in the
group and use those differences to strengthen
the whole. We use this information to help you
become an authentic leader - learning how to
lead through motivation without losing your
sense of self.
Foundations of teaming
helps learning teams develop a strong sense of
importance and team purpose, as well as
providing students a strategic approach to human
resource matters and the motivation of others in
business.
Authentic leadership helps
you develop personally and professionally,
through self-reflection, leadership training and
by working with a
committed executive coach.
Functional teaming and
authentic leadership allow you to thrive in
business and life. At Coles we provide you with
the tools for both.
On Authentic
Leadership
The focus on leadership is
life changing at Coles. I take the leadership
tools back to my staff meetings. We joke at the
office that my collegues
are the ones that really deserve the MBA. I use
the leadership tools at my job
and the motivational leadership is making a
positive impact.

The foundational
difference
Students come to Coles
with considerable management and leadership
experience. Coles Executive MBA takes it to the
next level.
Managers will succeed
only when they can identify
and deploy the differences among people.
Harvard Business Review,
March 2005
Did you ever wonder why
your employee acts the way he does and why your
boss seems to drift off whenever you bring up
talk of the budget? Foundations of teaming is
about understanding why people think and act the
way they do in order to lead a functional team
in the direction you need them to move in.
By sharing aspects of your
personal
and self assessments with
teammates, foundation of teaming will explore
how each team member functions in a team and how
differences in team members can be used to
strengthen the whole.
To know is to thrive
Knowing what makes
teammates respond will guide you to becoming a
better leader as you practice motivational
leadership techniques modeled after the world's
most successful CEOs, government and movement
leaders.
In addition, students are
provided with academic frameworks for functional
teaming so that their domestic and global
learning teams thrive. Because so much of the
curriculum is learned through interactions with
your learning teams – the academic frameworks
used to form your team charter and divide group
tasks efficiently helps you thrive during and
long after the Coles Executive MBA experience.
