This two-day executive education program can be taken as a one-day (First day only) or as a two-day certificate workshop.

  • The Certificate in the Management of Innovation will provide participants a set of powerful tools for building, managing and leading systemic innovation.     • Format and Location:
    • This two-day seminar can be taken as a one-day (First day only) or as a two-day certificate program.
    • Dr. Selden and Mr. Vardis will be joined by executives from multinational companies who have worked in this field for most of their careers and are willing to share with you their expertise in the field of innovation. You will learn to separate the myth from reality and the tools that you can use immediately or whenever there is a call for the practice of innovation.
    • The seminar will be held at the Executive Development Center on the Kennesaw State University campus. The program will begin at 8:30 AM and conclude at 4:30 PM. A continental breakfast and lunch will also be provided.
    • For out-of- town participants, special lodging rates have been arranged at conveniently located hotels in the proximity of the event.

  • Learning Experience
    This program will help you create a complete innovation pipeline for your organization. Unlike other innovation programs "we walk the talk" and keep revising and continuously refresh our program. We constantly alter processes and tools to always bring you the latest and most efficient techniques so that you triumph in your organization. As a graduate of our program you will always have access to us, and we will share our latest developments and most advanced techniques.

    • • You will develop skills and confidence by learning, practicing and applying processes of creative thinking which utilize people's creative power to generate ideas that are useful. These ideas will fit the business model of your organization or changes the business model so that your organization benefits. We call this systemic innovation because it is people-driven, can be found anywhere in the organization, and it is not restricted to technology or other tactical parameters.
    • • You will learn how to extract "insights" and get to the "needs" behind a challenge. You will learn ideation tools to go way beyond brainstorming and you will learn how to visualize and prototype ideas in 3-D on the way to application.
    • • You will expand your horizons to have global views and learn how to see beyond the "box" that hinders our usual thinking.

    Session 1:

     

    2 days, Tue-Wed, Oct 11-12, 2011: To Include Night Flights (Optional Night Activities)
    All participants will have the opportunity to do the Innovation Assessor, an on-line instrument that measures the innovation culture of their organization. The results will be analyzed for opportunities for improvement and interventions during the program and beyond.

    Take away: Knowledge and application of creative thinking tools and how they affect innovation

         

    Session 2:

     

    2-days, Tue-Wed, Oct 25-26, 2011: To Include Night Flights (Optional Night Activities)

    Session 3:

     

    2-days, Tue-Wed, Nov 8-9, 2011: To Include Night Flights (Optional Night Activities)

    Take away: Expertise in using tools and skills for Systemic Innovation

         

    Session 4:

     

    1-day, Wed, Dec 7, 2011: Debrief application and wrap-up

    Take away: Plan of action to take Systemic Innovation to your company


  • Faculty

    Harry VardisMr. Harry Vardis, Co-Director of the Center for Business Innovation and Creativity at the Coles College of Business. Harry is a trainer, facilitator and consultant in the field of Innovation and Creativity and is the creator of the PISCESSM process for corporate innovation. He is the author of numerous articles and a recently published book by the title Potatoes? Not Yet! 33 ways to grow and harvest your best ideas”

    As founder of The Creative Focus Institute, client companies served include BellSouth, Scientific Atlanta, Delta Air Lines, Attorney’s Title Insurance Fund, BBDO Atlanta, Mohawk Industries and a host of other corporations.

    Gary SeldenDr. Gary Selden, Co-Director of the Center for Business Innovation and Creativity and an Associate Professor of Marketing and Profes­sional Sales at the Coles College of Business. He has over 20 years of marketing, sales and training experience. 

    Gary has worked for and consulted with fortune 200 companies including Syntex Pharmaceuticals, Shaw Industries, Post Properties, Dupont, Allied Chemical, Mohawk Industries, Worldspan, BellSouth, and Kroger.  He has also worked with hundreds of small and emerging enterprises while working as Associate State Director of The University of Georgia’s Small Business Development Center.
