At the recent Kennesaw State University awards ceremony, Coles College of Business faculty came up with the largest tally of awards. This included:

Each of these winners will have an opportunity to apply for the corresponding university level award that is given during the Opening of the University ceremonies in the fall.
Also, thank you to the College R&D Committee, chaired by Shelly Ye, for their diligent efforts in reviewing the applications and making these selections. Shelly oversaw the process for three of the awards: Teaching, Service and Professor. Given that Shelly was a nominee for the Researcher Award, Dr. Dennis Chambers oversaw that process. Our thanks to the remaining committee members: Xupeng Liu, Aniruddha Bagchi, Stuart Napshin, Neal Mero, Maria Kalamas, Don Amoroso, Solomon Negash, and Armen Tashchian.

KENNESAW, Ga. (September, 2011) - Coles College faculty continue to be recognized for their contributions in research, teaching and service. We congratulate the following faculty for their achievements:
Dr. Joseph F. Hair, Jr., Professor of Marketing, was awarded the 2011 AMS Cutco/Vector Distinguished Marketing Educator Award at The Academy of Marketing Science's (AMS) 40th Anniversary Conference earlier this year. Hair was honored for his outstanding contributions to the marketing industry, his commitment to education and mentorship and his leadership within the AMS.
Hair has made an indelible impact on the marketing profession through his leadership, teaching, research, publications and textbook authorship.
Dr. Dana Hermanson, Dinos Eminent Scholar Chair of Private Enterprise and Professor, School of Accountancy, was awarded the Kennesaw State University Foundation Distinguished Scholarship Award. This award encompasses a diverse and multidimensional array of research and creative activities through which faculty make significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge, understanding, problem-solving, aesthetics, and pedagogy.
Dr. Divesh Sharma, Associate Professor, School of Accountancy, was awarded the Kennesaw State University Foundation Prize for Publication for his article "Former CPA Partners On The Audit Committee And Internal Control Deficiencies" published in The Accounting Review. This award was created by the KSU Foundation to encourage, support, and recognize original scholarship among tenure-track faculty.

Portfolios submitted for the Service Award did not meet the minimum requirements for selection. For this reason, the distinguished faculty service award will not be given this year.

KENNESAW, Ga. (August 11, 2010) - Congratulations Rongbing Huang for winning the Foundation Prize for Publication. Rongbing Huang's paper titled "Testing Theories of Capital Structure and Estimating the Speed of Adjustment" co-authored with Jay R. Ritter won the KSU Foundation Prize for Publication, and won the William F. Sharpe Award for the best paper published in the 2009 volume of the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis (JFQA) on August 27, 2010. This paper has received over 100 citations by researchers.
KENNESAW, Ga. (May 18, 2010) - Congratulations Dr. Gary Roberts for being selected as one of two national recipients of the Sam Walton Fellow of the Year award from the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). Dr. Roberts was selected for his continued outstanding leadership of the KSU SIFE Chapter.

KENNESAW, Ga. (Feb. 19, 2010) - Adriane Randolph named to the LEADERSHIP GEORGIA Class of 2010:
Adriane Randolph, Assistant Professor of Business Information Systems & Director of the BrainLab, for Kennesaw State University, has been named to the LEADERSHIP GEORGIA Class of 2010.
Adriane provide services and experience as a past recipient of the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 Under 40 Award that recognizes leaders in business and the community. As part of the Alumni group she is a member of the 40 Under 40 selection committee.
LEADERSHIP GEORGIA is a prestigious 38-year-old organization of community and state leaders. Affiliated with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, LEADERSHIP GEORGIA trains and builds a network of emerging young leaders from across the state. Past participants include a number of influential state and national leaders ranging from former U.S. Senator Sam Nunn to University of Georgia Athletic Director Vince Dooley.
Sixty (60) participants are selected each year from a pool of several hundred applicants. Class members visit five Georgia communities in a year-long exchange of ideas and experiences about important issues affecting the state.
The 2010 Class of LEADERSHIP GEORGIA will be led by incoming President Barbara Hampton of Roswell. With a principal focus on growing a global Georgia, this Class will travel to Brasstown Valley, Atlanta, Vidalia, Ft. Gaines and Columbus.

KENNESAW, Ga. (Jan. 26, 2009) —Congratulations to Chuck Hofer and the KSU team for its recent win at the 2010 USASBE National Model Program Award for our new MBA Concentration in Entrepreneurship at the 2010 USASBE Annual Conference in Nashville. Also, please see the write-up showing all of the winners since 1990. As you will note, only 10 schools have won two of the awards, and KSU is one of the ten.

KENNESAW, Ga. (Jan. 22, 2009) KSU Distinguished Scholarship and Creative Activity Award- Prof. Lucy Ackert, Dept. of Economics, Finance and Quantitative Analysis. Prof. Ackert is among the top twenty women finance researchers worldwide and has received many awards for her numerous publications in the highest ranked journals in finance and economics. She is a leading scholar in the area of Experimental Finance.
KSU Professional Service Award- Prof. Hope Baker, Dept. of Economics, Finance and Quantitative Analysis. Prof. Baker has provided years of leadership and applied scholarship in Assurance of Learning at the Coles College. She has also been a recipient of the Southeast Decision Science Institute ’s service award for her work in various executive capacities.
Foundation Prize for Publications or Creative activity- Prof. Brett Katzman, Dept. of Economics, Finance and Quantitative Analysis. Prof Katzman’s research on Medicare Auctions was published in the Southern Economics Journal and also received the Southern Economics Association’s prestigious Roegen award.
New Course Development Award- Prof. Elke Leeds, School of Accountancy for her work in developing outstanding courses for the Web MBA.
In addition, Coles faculty were finalists in many of the award categories.
Dana Hermanson The American Accounting Association (AAA) is pleased to congratulate Dana R. Hermanson, recipient of the Issues in Accounting Education Best Paper Award for his paper, “What I Have Learned So Far: Observations on Managing an Academic Accounting Career.” Read More Here
Dr. Kathryn Epps received the "Exemplary Service for Advancing Diversity in the Accounting Profession" Award from the American Accounting Association and was voted as President-Elect of the Diversity Section of the American Accounting Association.
Dr. Joe Astrachan received the International Award from the Family Firm Institute for outstanding achievement in furthering the understanding of family business issues which occur between two or more countries.
Dr. Elke Leeds of the Coles College and Elena Kashtanova from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, won the Tommy & Beth Hoder award for developing a team-taught course on International Communications. |
