Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, GA The date was June 15, 2008. It was the final shot, on the final hole, of the final round of the U.S. Open at San Diego's Torrey Pines Golf Course. Tiger Woods had one shot -- one putt -- to make it to a playoff round with Rocco Mediate. As millions watched, Tiger made that shot and subsequently went on to win the U.S. Open in a playoff round the following day. If not for Tiger sinking that one final putt, Rocco Mediate would be the 2008 U.S. Open champion. Salespeople often find themselves in one-shot situations with clients and prospects. One shot to get their foot in the door. One shot to get the deal. Each year, Kennesaw State University near Atlanta hosts the National Collegiate Sales Competition. This is the U.S. Open for students pursuing a career in sales. Student teams from about 50 of America's most elite university sales programs participate. This past March marked the tenth year of the competition, and a young man named Kyle Williams from the University of Central Florida walked away as overall winner.
