Tyra Mitchell is an Instructor in the Marketing and Professional Sales Department. She received her B.B.A. from Georgia State University in 1990. In 1992¸ she graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Masters of Science in Management. Her research interests focus on alternative health care, entertainment marketing and assurance of learning.
Drawing from her professional experience, Tyra has introduced a new course at Kennesaw focusing on the entertainment industry. She is a member of the honors faculty and mentors students that are working on their honors course work and thesis. She has taught honors courses on mythology and marketing as well as the effect of the Irish on American culture and marketing. Also, Tyra is the program coordinator for the Disney and Dublin 2008 study abroad trip that is visiting Orlando, Ireland and Paris in August, 2008.
Previously¸ Tyra worked at Shorter College and Berry College in Rome¸ Georgia where she taught a variety of subjects including marketing research¸ advertising and promotion¸ consumer behavior¸ statistics¸ research design and economics. She was the SIFE Fellow at Shorter, coaching her team to both an honorable mention and a third–place finish in national competitions.
Tyra resides in Acworth and is a Georgia native. Outside of the classroom, she expresses herself creatively in her writing, quilting and photography. She has dreams of being a published writer but contents herself with mainly working behind a camera. Frequently, she can be found on the shores of Ireland with her camera in hand.
