I was born in Albuquerque, NM and have lived all over the United States, moving frequently while growing up. In fact, I have only two more states to visit: North Dakota and Alaska! I consider Georgia my home as I graduated from high school in Doraville. My undergraduate degree in International Studies is from American University in Washington, DC. After graduating from AU, I spent two years traveling and working in Europe to perfect my foreign language skills.
I attend the University of Georgia for my MBA in Marketing and I was in Air Force Reserve Officer Training. I was commissioned in 1980 and spent 20 years in the Air Force as an Acquisition's Officer where I "bought" airplanes and aircraft systems. People often join the military to "see the world".... I spent 10 of my 20 years stationed in Marietta, GA. I did get overseas once where I taught AFROTC for two years at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan. It was there that I decided that I liked teaching college!
Upon retirement in 2000, I began teaching at Coosa Valley Technical College in Rome and Rockmart and teach both in class and online. I have taught many of the Computer Information System classes offered including Microsoft applications (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Photoshop, etc), programming, computer maintenance and networking. I also teach continuing education and workforce development classes for CVTC. I am honored to teach, now, for the prestigious Coles College at Kennesaw State University. I really enjoy teaching college and have a great deal of respect for my students who are often juggling home, school and work.
