Dr. Gaia Marchisio joined the Michael J. Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University in 2006 as an Assistant Professor of Management. Dr, Marchisio is also a faculty associate of the Coles College Cox Family Enterprise Center.
Prior to joining Kennesaw State University, Dr. Marchisio was teaching Management in Italy both at undergraduate and graduate levels, in Italian, English and Spanish. Starting in 1998 she was a faculty member of the Strategic and Entrepreneurial Management Department at SDA Bocconi, Bocconi University School of Management, where she taught strategic management in the MIEM-MBA, and family business at executive programs. In 2002 and 2003 she served as Assistant Director of the MBA Program in SDA Bocconi, and in 2004 and 2005 she was coordinator of the “AIdAF – Alberto Falck” Chair in Strategic Management in family business and Assistant Director of Entrepreneurship Entrepreneurs’ Research Center, both at Bocconi University. Since 2003 she has been Visiting Professor at EAE - Barcelona, Spain, where she teaches family business in the MBA program.
Dr. Marchisio’s research primarily concerns family business, entrepreneurship, and strategic management, with particular interest in: fostering entrepreneurship in family business, family business’ strategic planning process and going public and family offices. She has participated in research projects with international partners both from the Academic and Professional environments. She has a number of publications in the area of family business, co-authoring several articles on family business issues in international academic journals and professional magazines. In 2003 Dr. Marchisio took part in the Best Practice Committee of the Italian Stock Exchange for the definition of the best practices regarding Strategic Planning for IPOs.
Dr. Marchisio belongs to the following professional associations: The Academy of Management, The Family Firm Institute (FFI), and the The Family Business Network (FBN) where she regularly participates both as a member of FBN’s Next Generation Committee and at conferences where she regularly presents research papers.
