M. Catherine Cleaveland is an assistant professor of accounting in the Michael J. Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Cleaveland’s research focuses on the effect changes in shareholder-level dividend taxes have on corporate spending. She also investigates methods for improving student learning. For her work in this area, Dr. Cleaveland received the 2004 American Taxation Association Deloitte Teaching Innovation Award.
Prior to receiving her Ph.D. from Georgia State University, she received a Bachelors of Science in Management Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Taxation from Georgia State University. She also worked for Georgia Pacific as a tax accountant. In her spare time Dr. Cleaveland enjoys working with the American Red Cross where she is a volunteer CPR instructor.
